25+ Middle School Writing Prompts

Middle School is a huge transition for young kids….because, that’s just it, they are still kids yet they want to be grown and many adults start to treat them grown as well. Middle School Writing Prompts can teach life skills, hence, the biggest problem is that they don’t have any concepts of the types of skills they will need for life as an adult can be solved by themselves. Therefore, since I have a daughter going into Middle School these are some life skills I am teaching her.

Middle School Writing Prompts Teach Life Skills

A writing journal is a great way to have a middle school kid delve into discovering the types of morals they want to keep for themselves before they run into the heavy peer pressure faced in high school.

  • What makes a good friend? What makes a bad person? How do you tell them apart?
  • Why is telling the truth important? What if telling the truth will hurt someone or get them in trouble, is it still important then?
  • If someone acts angry or upset what do you do? Are they a bad person? How do you figure it out?
  • Do some research on cars. What type of car is best for a teenager and why?
  • If there were no adults left and a zombie apocalypse happened who out of your siblings would make the best leader and why.
  • What is your gender? Why do you like it? What would be easier if you were the opposite?
  • Describe your dream house and explain your choices.
  • What would you do if the internet disappeared and didn’t comeback? Describe some pros and cons.
  • Do you enjoy being alone or in a group? Why?
  • If you were to star in a new movie: What would it be about, where would it take place and what kind of character would you be?
  • If you could fix any world problem, which would you choose and why?
  • What does your personal ethnicity add to your life?
  • Describe something you wish your parents would understand better about being your age?
  • If you got to be in charge of creating the rules for your school, what would they be and why?
  • Think about all of your friends? What similarities and differences do you see?
  • What does it mean to be a bully? Describe your reasoning.
  • Do you believe in luck or coincidence? If so, explain why and if not, explain why not.
  • If you met a real physic, what would you want to know about your future and why?
  • What is communication? Is it important?
  • If you could make a holiday to celebrate whatever you wanted, what would it be and why?
  • Would you like someone else to solve your issues for you? What do you gain by solving them for yourself?
  • Who are you? What does it mean to you to be alive?
  • List some of your favorite things. Describe how these things help create who you are?
  • If you saw a stranger crying, what would you do? Would you do anything and, most importantly, how would it make you feel?
  • Have you ever lost something important to you? What did you do and how did you feel?
